# Hearing from Operators in Houston: How Education is Elevating Teams

At Ficus Education, we believe the best ideas come from listening.

This month, our team had the privilege of meeting with Independent[Chick-fil-A](https://www.chick-fil-a.com/menu?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=14860990517&gbraid=0AAAAADRIo1PyGXLfG54YFHiKB9tZ7VGfV&gclid=Cj0KCQjw58PGBhCkARIsADbDilxVOkCfw7EcGu_33jnRzPnOdVIplDheaFNud4zu4oH11LLmJqBtiQIaAgLTEALw_wcB)Operators across Houston. These in-person visits gave us the opportunity to hear directly from leaders about how education benefits are shaping their restaurants, impacting team members, and strengthening futures.

Operators shared why providing education opportunities is more than just a benefit: it’s a way to show team members they’re valued. By offering debt-free, online pathways to degrees through [Point University](https://point.edu/), Operators are creating an environment where people want to stay, grow, and lead.

### What We Heard

Several themes came up again and again in our conversations:

- **Retention:** Operators emphasized how education benefits encourage team members to stay longer.
- **Recruitment:** Leaders shared how offering debt-free degrees helps them stand out when hiring.
- **Simplicity:** Many were pleased by how easy the program is to launch, with no reimbursement paperwork or complicated systems to manage.
- **Team Excitement:** Operators described the pride team members feel when they realize they can earn an Associate, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree while working.

### Stories That Inspire

During our visits, we heard stories of team members who were the first in their families to pursue higher education, parents balancing work and school, and young leaders stepping into new levels of responsibility because of the confidence that education brings.

One Operator put it best, "This program is helping me grow the next generation of leaders inside my restaurant.”

### Always Listening. Always Improving.

Every visit and every conversation makes us better.

The insights we gathered are already helping us refine how we serve Operators and their teams. Whether that’s creating new resources, streamlining onboarding, or shaping future program enhancements.

Our goal is simple: to keep improving so that every Operator can offer education benefits with confidence and ease, and every team member can succeed without barriers.

### Why It Matters

These conversations in Houston remind us why we do what we do. Education isn’t just about degrees—it’s about opportunity, confidence, and building stronger futures.

Through our partnership with Point University, more than 500 Chick-fil-A Operators have already provided education benefits to their teams, leading to over 300 graduates and thousand of lives changed.
